Steel windows and doors for wildfire country

What good is a one-hour wall if the windows fail in minutes?

Meet Revyn: 100% American-made steel windows and doors that bring beautiful design, exceptional performance and advanced wildfire resilience together in one remarkable product. Made in New England from marine-grade 316 stainless steel, Revyn combines minimalist frames and exceptional energy efficiency with advanced engineering designed to resist extreme heat and open flame.

What is Revyn

Revyn is the new generation of steel windows and doors, engineered specifically for wildfire and prolonged open-flame exposure, without compromising energy efficiency or design freedom.

We protect the entire opening, not just the glass.

The overlooked opening

A one-hour wallis only as strongas its windows

You can spend months designing a home for fire country. You harden the roof, screen the vents, rethink the deck and clear the landscape. Then, to capture the light and the view, you cut holes in that fire-resistant wall and fill the openings with windows and doors.

Tempered glass helps. But a window is a system of glass, frame, thermal break, gaskets, seals and hardware. In a fire, the flames and heat attack and challenge the entire system. If one component gives way, the entire window system can fail.

Revyn was engineered to protect the entire opening.

CAL FIRE's eight-minute wildfire test

It passedSo wekept going

We put a Revyn window through CAL FIRE's eight-minute wildfire test, and it passed with flying colors. So we kept the fire burning. Our window kept performing for so long that the test team got tired of waiting and switched the burner off.

08:00

CAL FIRE's SFM 12-7A-2 test requires eight minutes of direct flame exposure.

Keptperforming

When the burner was finally switched off, the glass, frame and glazing were still intact. At eight minutes, you could still put your bare hand on the inside of the window frame without burning yourself.

Revyn has received CAL FIRE testing and certification. Full test results are available on request. Our formal NFRC energy rating is being finalized.

Therma Web™ · Patent pending

The strengthis in our design

The weakest part of many thermally broken steel windows isn't the steel. It's the poured or crimped polyamide plastic holding the two halves of the steel frame together. Under extreme heat or stress, that connection can weaken, potentially causing the entire window to fail. We believed there had to be a better way to build a thermal steel window, so we started over.

01

A welded stainless steel truss

Precision-cut 316 stainless sections are joined by welded internal webs into an H-shaped truss. The frame gets its strength from the steel, not from the glass or a plastic connector.

02

A thermal break that holds nothing up

Our next-generation thermal break cuts heat transfer without plastic structural connectors. The truss carries the load. The thermal break insulates.

03

Five performance cores

Fire, thermal, hurricane, sound and ballistic. Select one or combine them without changing the frame. Our first focus is wildfire and energy efficiency.

04

Laser-cut from sheets

Frames are cut from stainless steel sheets to tolerances within a fraction of a millimeter, so windows arrive at the dimensions ordered.

More glass. Narrower frames. Better views. Because the truss carries the load, large openings keep slim steel sightlines.

Wide opento wildfire

Are we playing with fire by overlooking windows and doors?

Written by the team behind Revyn, it explains what really happens when fire reaches a window, what today's tests do and don't tell you, and the questions to ask before you specify. Including the ones to ask us.

The all-climate performance window

Made forthe extremes

Wildfire

The fire core is engineered to resist extreme heat and prolonged open flame, and it is where our testing starts.

Coastal

Marine-grade 316 stainless steel resists corrosion, and our standard powder coat carries a C4 rating for demanding coastal conditions. The hurricane core is designed for impact and high winds.

Mountain

The thermal core reduces heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer, for comfort in extreme climates.

City

The sound core improves acoustic insulation against traffic, aircraft and other unwanted noise.

Our initial focus is wildfire protection and energy efficiency. Hurricane, sound and ballistic configurations each require their own engineering, testing and certification.

Who we serve

Made for everyoneArchitectsHomeownersBuilders

The architect specifies the windows. The homeowner pays for them. The builder installs them. Each of you needs something different from us. But you all need a steel window that's a great window for thousands of ordinary days, and an extraordinary one on the day that isn't.

Questions

Askedand answered

All questions →

Isn't tempered glass enough to protect a window from wildfire?

It helps, but it's only one part. A window is a system of glass, frame, thermal break, gaskets, seals and hardware. If the frame or a seal gives way, the opening can fail even when the glass survives.

If a window is "fire-rated," is the whole window fire-rated?

Not necessarily. Ask what exactly carries the rating: the glass, one fixed window, one door, one size, or the complete family of windows and doors you are specifying.

How did Revyn perform in CAL FIRE's wildfire test?

A Revyn window passed CAL FIRE's SFM 12-7A-2 test, which requires eight minutes of direct flame exposure, then continued to perform so far past it that the testing team ended up switching the burner off.

Where are Revyn windows made, and how long do they take?

In our New England factory in North Springfield, Vermont, from American 316 stainless steel. Once your order is confirmed, expected delivery is about fourteen to sixteen weeks for the Extreme Climate Series, and longer for the custom Legacy Series.
